The 2026 Pipe Opener is coming up. Let's hope the weather looks favourably on us.

A joint regatta between the Derwent Sailing Squadron and Kettering Yact Club with the usual format of sailing and entertainment. Friday is the Hobart to Kettering race with Saturday being the Derwent Boat Sales Cove Cup and Sunday the Oyster Cove Marina race. The bar will be open Friday evening from 6pm and Saturday from 5pm with fire pits, the Singles Bar Band (the boys from Dover who rocked us for the last Pipe Opener) and 2 x food trucks being Pink Buns (yes, strange name) providing fusion asian food and Doughboy Pizza with your local favourite toppings. It will be a big Saturday night in the usual KYC way along with super prizes and recognition of our race winners, plus maybe a prize or two for weird and strange things sailors tend to do.

Breakfast available on Saturday and Sunday morning at the KYC clubhouse with bacon, egg and haloumi rolls and coffee and tea.

Major sponsors are Ronald Young and Co Builders and Derwent Boat Sales with Oyster Cove Marina supporting the event through berthing facilities. A team of KYC volunteers will also be working hard for the event.
